What is MLS?

MLS stands for Multi Listing Service — a system where member real estate agencies pool their listed properties ("stock") into one shared network instead of marketing homes individually. When a property is listed with an MLS member agent, every other member agency in the network can bring their own buyers to that property.

This co-operative model means
Sellers reach a wider pool of buyers through every member agency, not just one.
Buyers see a broader selection of homes than any single agency could offer.
Agents earn professional fees by both listing and selling within the shared network.

How MLS helps sellers

List with an MLS member agency anywhere in Pretoria North West or North East and your property becomes visible to every agent in the MLS network zone — not just your own agent.

1
Your home is listed on the network
Your agent loads your home's details onto the MLS network, where every member agency can see it.
2
An "open hour" is scheduled
A mid-week viewing session allows MLS member agents to view your property in person and capture their own unique, firsthand photos and videos, which they can use to create authentic content to market your property across their individual websites and social media channels, maximising its exposure. During these sessions, attending agents also provide professional feedback on the expected selling price. This collective industry insight helps ensure your property is accurately priced and perfectly positioned in the market to attract the right buyers.
3
Your home reaches every buyer in the network
Your agent now has a realistic price expectation and a wide pool of agents with first-hand knowledge of your home, ready to bring it to their own buyers.
What does it cost? Nothing extra.
The listing agent and selling agent share one fixed, agreed professional fee once the property is sold and registered. You get the combined marketing power of an entire network of agents for the price of one.

To get your home listed with MLS: confirm your chosen agent is an MLS member, then ask them to multi-list your property — so it's marketed across the MLS agent network and online for maximum exposure.

How MLS helps buyers

Because MLS pools stock from over 50 member agencies across Pretoria North West and North East, buyers working with any MLS agent gain access to a far larger range of available properties than a single agency could offer — all at a consistent, agency-agreed price and professional fee, which means less confusion when comparing homes.

Buyers can also get a head start on financing through our partner bond originator, Green Door Home Loans, using the free pre-approval tool on their site — so you know your budget before you start viewing.

Why join MLS as an agency?

MLS Gauteng North is also a professional network for real estate agencies and their agents who want more listing opportunities, structured training and a trusted local reputation.

How membership works: agencies register with MLS Gauteng North first. Once registered, the agency signs up its individual property practitioners under that membership, giving each agent full access to the shared network.
