How to Verify an MLS Agent

Know who you’re dealing with before you sign.

Every MLS member agent carries an annual membership card issued at the start of each year, showing their credentials and Fidelity Fund Certificate (FFC) number. If you’d like to confirm an agent’s membership, our administration office can verify this for you.

Verifying an agent in three steps

It takes a minute, and any legitimate member agent will be happy to show you.

1
Ask to see their membership card
Every MLS member agent is issued a membership card at the start of each year. Ask the agent to show you theirs.
2
Check the credentials and FFC number
The card shows the agent’s credentials and their Fidelity Fund Certificate (FFC) number, along with the year it was issued for.
3
Confirm it with our administration office
Still unsure? Contact the MLS Gauteng North administration office and we’ll confirm the agent’s membership for you.
Why it matters
A valid membership card and FFC number confirm you are dealing with a registered property practitioner within the MLS network — and that your listing or purchase is handled by an agency accountable to the association.
